The Triangle of Mystery

“Cr, Cr”  the walkie-talkie crackled as Houston tried to connect to the world-famous Amelia Earhart. “Amelia, are you there? Amelia?” “Yup, Houston. I’m right here, like I’ve always been.”  “Okay, well, you’re heating up. Take a quick stop before you explode.” “Sir, yes, sir!” Amelia joked. She flew over the Bermuda Triangle. “Amelia, you just missed the island. Take a U-turn. Amelia?” There was no response. Amelia Earhart, the world-famous pilot, went missing.
(That’s not what happened, but just go with the flow. Artistic license.)

What is the Bermuda Triangle?
The Bermuda Triangle (aka Devil’s Triangle) is an area near Bermuda/Florida where people go missing. Specifically, one corner in Miami, Florida, one in Bermuda, and one in Puerto Rico.  Ships that go there disappear. Planes that fly over vanish. Some people think that’s where Amelia Earhart, the famous first female pilot went missing. That makes sense. Some people -most, actually- think that something supernatural is behind this mysterious phenomena. That might be true. Well, in this article, we’re going to explore the Bermuda Triangle, and figure out the facts!

Theoretically…
One theory is that Atlantis may be under the Triangle. It has ‘crystal energies’, that sink ships and planes. Another theory is methane gas. Gas that’s trapped under the sea can erupt, and water density levels lower, which causes ships to sink. Even planes flying over can get caught. But, scientists think they have found the true answer. Blue Holes. A Blue Hole is a really big bottle-shaped cave. Their opening is 100s of feet down in the ocean. The 2nd Biggest in the world is called Dean’s Blue Hole, and it has a depth of 663 feet. Divers have found out that in these Blue Holes, there are many tunnels. And in those tunnels, there are whirlpools that can affect the surface. They’re EXTREMELY dangerous. Be careful! Now you know different theories about the Bermuda Triangle. Which one is best? If you want to know about more theories, refer to the appendix for more reading material.

Ocean Showdown

Now you know about the Bermuda Triangle. But how much do you know about its competitor in conspiracy theories: The Loch Ness Monster (aka Nessie)? These two are similar in some aspects. One way they’re similar is that both of these involve water. The Bermuda Triangle is a place in the ocean, and Nessie is a sea creature. Another way that these two are similar is that they’re famous! Hardly no one alive doesn’t know about the Bermuda Triangle. And who’s never heard of Nessie? A third way that they're similar is that they’re mythical. Some people don’t believe the mysterious Bermuda Triangle is a deadly magician, and others think that people who claim to see the Loch Ness Monster are liars. These two are different in some ways too. One way is that the Bermuda Triangle is a place. Nessie is a creature, a living organism. Another difference is that thousands of people visit Scotland to see the Loch Ness. You can’t really visit the Bermuda Triangle - Well you can, but no guarantee that you will come back. A third way they’re different is that the Bermuda Triangle is - the Bermuda Triangle harms people. If you fly over, you go missing for good. Nessie won’t hurt you, or we hope so. In conclusion, the Bermuda Triangle and the Loch Ness Monster are similar in some ways, and different in others.
