Just My Luck

It was a cloudy afternoon in Delphi, Greece. An Oracle sat in the cave of Python, staring at a crystal ball.

Meanwhile, a teenage girl named Olivia and her brother Jack were in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, trying to steer an out-of-control ship, and battle a fierce storm. "Grab the rigging!"Olivia yelled. "Then head belowdecks!" She and Jack were trying to sail from Connecticut to California before their enemy, Sarah did. "At least one good thing came out of this storm," Olivia thought. "Sarah's behind us."

Just her luck, Sarah showed up right next to Olivia's ship.

"Shoot."Olivia muttered. "Hangin' in there, Sarah?" she yelled.

"FYI, NO!" Sarah went flying off her ship and landed in the crow's nest of Olivia's ship. "Just my luck." they both muttered. Olivia raced up to the top of the crow's nest to help Sarah get untangled. "I don't need your help." she said, squirming. "Yes, you do. Now stay still so I can get you free."

At the time, Jack came from belowdecks and anchored Sarah's ship to touch his. Then he tied the rope to his ship to secure it and went below decks. Sarah and Olivia ran after him too. Sarah shut the door and sank down in relief. "Sarah, are you going to stay on our ship?" Jack asked. "Yeah, I'm going to have to." she said. "Mine is in ruins." "Well, what about your supplies?" He said. If we can get them here, we'll have more than enough!" "Good idea!" Sarah said. "I'll go get them." Jack said. He ran outside, but the storm was at its peak.

The wind was so strong, that Jack went flying off, into the Pacific. "I'm heading to the nearest island, come find me!" he yelled so that the girls would hear. "Okay!" Sarah screamed over the howling wind. Then Jack's head went underwater, with a final bubble.

"Just my luck." he thought.

The girls managed to collect the supplies, bring them downstairs, and eat. They both had a fitful sleep.

The next morning, it was cloudy. They got off the ship and checked out the nearest land. There were cobbled streets, and street vendors selling fish, water, bread, olives, clothes, jewelry, accessories and pictures of the Olympian gods. In the horizon, the could see the sun coming up, lighting up on the dry land.

"Where are we?" Sarah asked, sleepily. "I think Greece, by the look of it." Olivia responded, sounding tired. "Let's get some coffee." Sarah said. "First, we're gonna have to go to an ATM to change the currency. I -luckily- have a waterproof wallet with lots of money." Olivia explained. "Smart move." Sarah said. "Thanks, S" Olivia said. Sarah smiled. So the girls changed currencies, had breakfast, and did some shopping. They got new: clothes, jewelry, hats, sunglasses, shoes, bread, water and olives. Olivia sighed. "I miss Jack. he would've loved this T-Shirt." Well then, you should get it for him now; Olive." Sarah said, lightening up the mood. When they made their final purchases, they bumped into some one. "Oh!" they all exclaimed. Then the person gave them a note, and scampered away.

The note read, "Come to the Second Attic at noon. You'll find Jack". It also had some sort of a riddle.

It was already 11:00!

So the girls found the Second Attic, which turned out to be a hotel/restaurant. They went to Attic 2 and found a person with a hood on, in all-black. "Welcome to the Cave of Python", she said. Then suddenly, the room turned into a cave, dripping with murky brown water. In a corner, there was Jack, locked in a cage. There were three keys on the table.

"One of these keys opens the cage. The other 2 will make it explode. I will give you some riddles to test your knowledge, strength, perseverance, and love", the figure in all-black robes said.

"The first riddle is this: A man, his wife, daughter and son live in a circle house. One day, in the house, the man dies. The police come and check the alibis of the people. The mom said she was cooking in the kitchen. The daughter said she was reading in the living room. The son said he was playing on his tablet in the corner. The police arrested the son. Why?", she asked.

"Give us some time to think this out with each other." Olivia said. "Fine." Olivia and Sarah huddled. "This is easy." Sarah said. "Are all the riddles going to be like this?" I don't know, but the answer is because there are no corners in a circle house." "Yup. Let's tell'er."

"Do you hav your answer? The lady asked impatiently. "I'm waiting."

"The answer is - because there are no corners in a circle house!" The girls jinxed. The lady soundlessly took out 1 key.

"Here is the next riddle." she said calmly. Inside she was furious! How did they do it? None of the Ancient Greeks could! "It is a series of questions. What are the three steps to putting an elephant in the fridge?"

"Open the fridge, put the elephant in the fridge, close the fridge!" Olivia replied before the lady could finish the question.

The lady continued hurriedly, "You have 100 bricks in a plane. One falls out. How many are left?". "99" Sarah quipped.

"There is a party, and all the animals in the world are invited. All go except one. What animal?" was the question. "The elephant" came the reply.

Next, "Sally needs to cross a bridge. If she steps on it, it will break, and she'll fall into a pit full of hungry crocodiles. But she steps on it. The bridge breaks, but she doesn't die. Why?"

"Because the crocodiles were at the party!"

"Finally, most important question. This could mean life of death for you all. Question is... When Sally got to the other side, she died. Why?"

Sarah asked, "Can we discuss?". "Of course, dear", the lady said gleefully as the girls huddled in confusion.

"It could be hypothermia?" Olivia said. "No, we need to be the riddle" Sarah said. She gasped. "I know!" They jinxed. "p pjwwk2xpgc . o b" They whispered.

"Done?" the riddle lady asked. "Yup. She died because the brick fell on her head!" said the girls with confidence.

The mystery woman removed another key.

"How do we know that you're not lying and giving us the exploding key?" Sarah asked. "I swear on my life." the response was.

So Sarah took the remaining key, and unlocked the cage. Olivia rushed into Jack's arms. "Jack!" she cried out happily.

Sarah noticed the woman got away. "Just my luck." She muttered.

In truth, that mysterious woman was an evil witch named Medea. She was wanted, and during her hurried getaway, the police caught her.

Then all was all right in that area of the universe.

"Just my luck" were Medea's final words, when she got captured. "Just my luck."

Weeks

Last week Amma and Appa did some ordering. First, Amma went on Wayfair and ordered new hall and dining room rugs. I helped. She also ordered a new Christmas tree, and a few Rachel Ray Cusina cooking sets. Next Appa ordered a Roomba 675 and SBAC math, science, and ELA,]. AND... A new iMac which I'm typing on now! The iMac is really cool, you can do so many things on it. And the Christmas tree is now all decorated. N is terrified of the Roomba. The rugs look great, SBAC hasn't been broken into, and Amma's cooking is getting even better with the RRC (Rachel Ray Cusina) sets. the Holiday boutique is coming up and AH are coming. We are going to have so much fun. We just came back from Great Wolf lodge too! All in all, its been fun these last few weeks!!

Blink Summary

In the episode Blink, from Doctor Who Season 3, the main character Sally Sparrow, goes to an abandoned old house, and finds a message for her from The Doctor saying she should duck. The message was dated in 1969. She ducks, and something flies at her head. The person who threw it was a stone statue of an angel. (or so you would think)

She comes back the next day with her friend Lisa, and then the doorbell rings. The person is Lisa’s grandson. Lisa goes missing right then. How!? Her grandson gives Sally a letter which says that Lisa went back in time. What?!

Sally goes to Lisa’s brother, Keith’s video store and finds a TV with a DVD in it running a video where the Doctor is saying supposedly random things. Again, it may sound random only if you don't know whats going on, and we viewers still don't know .

She goes to the police, and a man (Billy Shipton) takes her down to see cars abandoned at the old house from the first scene and… there is the TARDIS! And everywhere Sally goes, there are angel statues. One minute, you see them, if you look away, or blink, even for a second, they move closer to attack you. As they are talking Billy goes missing, and shows up 5 minutes later as an old man, about to die, when the rain stops.

Sally is determined to find out what is happening, and takes Keith with her. He brings a TV, I-Pad, and a notebook and pen. While they watch The Doctor on TV, they figure out that somehow, The Doctor went into the future, got a transcript of what he and Sally are saying, and is using that to talk back to her. He warns them about the statues and says don’t blink. Or you’re DEAD.

Then, an angel, 2, 3 show up. Sally leaves Keith to go explore if there are more, and Keith tries his best to not blink, then runs to the basement. They find the TARDIS, and go inside, but the angels find them, and try to force them to come out. And at that point the TARDIS de-materializes around them and leaves them surrounded by four attacking angels!

They look up and slowly realize what the Doctor has done - Now all the angels are looking at each other and in a deadlock to not blink or look around. The Angels were looking at each other, which turns all of them to stone, because they were being looked at! Because even a stone angel would get killed (or its equivalent for a stone) when another angel looks at them when they aren't looking.

As Sally and Keith realize they are safe, they slowly inch away from the spot and go on about their life.

A year later, the Doctor and Martha Jones (his companion) pass the store with archery equipment; busy running on a different mission. Sally talks a little, then the Doctor leaves. They don't recognize Sally and that's when Sally realizes that she has to publish the transcript and the video "easter eggs" where the Doctor says random things.

That is how the Doctor gets all the stuff to use in his future or in their past.

That episode was very scary to watch. You never knew what was going to happen. And it all makes sense only at the end or second time viewing.

Go Green!

Do you listen to what Trump says about climate change? Well, if you do, don't. This essay will (I hope) convince you to go green and worry about the fate of our Earth.

Why should we go green? You may ask. Because the fate of the place you live in depends on it. The earth will be around forever. Why should we stress about it? Because it won't be. It'll be gone soon if this continues.
Climate change is bad for animals. One way this is true is that Google said: "In 2024, the Arctic will have an ice-less summer." Do you know how bad that is? Polar bears and other creatures that live in the Arctic are used to FREEZING cold temperatures. In the heat of no ice, some animals might literally burn or melt!!! This is because those animals have a thick layer of fur covering their outer bodies, and animals like whales and walruses have a layer of fat called blubber to keep them extra warm. Also, some animals use snow as a hiding area, by digging a hole and hiding in it. Without the snow, there would be nowhere to hide. Actually, without the snow, there might not even BE an Arctic!
Another way that climate change is bad for animals is that it's destroying their habitats. This is happening for two reasons. One is because the Amazon Rainforest is burning up. The Amazon Rainforest is great for many reasons. One is it gives off a lot of oxygen because there are so many trees. Two is because it's a great ecosystem for animals to live. There are many different types of animals that live in the Amazon Rainforest and River. if it burns up, there is no place for the animals of the area to go! The people of Brazil want to do something but their leader won't let them. The G7 tried to give Brazil 2 million dollars to help, but the leader said no. "Why are they trying to give Brazil money? I know how to govern my own country!" If the entire Amazon Rainforest burns up, That would be absolutely HORRIBLE!!
But climate change doesn't just affect animals, it affects humans as well. One way this is true is because one aspect of climate change is global warming. It gets hotter in some places and cooler in others. Pollution is one way that global warming happens. But this pollution is REALLY bad for everyone. For the living organisms that breathe oxygen, the air is getting polluted. Actually, making 1 or half a pound of beef is equivalent to driving 55 cars for one mile!!! So humans need to become vegetarians. And all this gunk isn't just happening in the air. It's going into the sea! There is a floating island of trash the size of Texas! And it's still growing! Whenever your trash goes into landfills, most of it goes into the sea. So humans need to start RECYCLING a lot more. Even if just one person does these things, it can make a huge difference. Thanks for reading.
